Sam Current is an American songwriter currently based in Louisville, Kentucky performing original folk music inspired by the music of Townes Van Zandt, Doc Watson, Jackson C. Frank and Merle Travis.

Sam performs with a combination of travis & flat picking as inspired by the great performers of the past, often incorporating the feel of music written during the 50’s, 60’s and 70s folk and country movements. He aims to preserve and carry on the timeless sound that has come to shape his own musical composition, furthering the torch passed down from his predecessors.

His work embodies the timeless stories written at the intersection of the human condition and the spiritual realm, delivered with a raspy voice that aims to unravel the experiences earned from his journey passed.

Born in Middletown, Ohio, Sam left his home state in 2013 in pursuit of employment opportunities in Austin, TX, where he worked as a tradesman for 10 years while performing throughout the Lone Star State. In 2023, Sam left his blue-collar career behind and relocated to Nashville, TN, with the support of close friends who allowed him to live with them while he realigned himself with his music. In July of 2024, Sam relocated to Louisville, KY.

Sam is set to release a series of singles in 2024, which were recorded in Nashville in the spring of 2024, while booking performances throughout the United States and beyond.
